BC Hydro - Tower Replacement


Project Description: BC Hydro needed to realign a 500 kV transmission line through Surrey. A tower in near King George Highway was replaced to alter the alignment. The construction involved the drilling and installation of four micropiles to support the new tower. These micropiles were installed in close proximity to two Fortis BC gas transmission lines.

Project Start: September 2021

Services Provided: Instratus provided pre and post-construction condition assessments of the neighbouring properties and buildings. During construction Instratus provided two vibration monitors that were installed above the gas mains. Data was transmitted to and presented on Instratus’ web portal. Daily reports summarizing results of monitoring were submitted to JJM and BC Hydro.
